Beginning a series looking into the lore, mechanical identities, and overall gameplay approach of each color combination, by popular demand, we begin with the Cult of Rakdos. More than just a pile of removal and disruption, this color pair does a lot more than it lets on! From aggressive synergies, value engines, and even just piles of awesome Magic cards, Rakdos gives a lot of options to the aspiring brewer.
One of the most-maligned, most exaggerated archetypes of all times is Draw-Go. Believed to be nothing more than a pile of counterspells and a couple of win conditions, and difficult to play, the truth is much simpler. It’s an archetype that rewards format knowledge, patience, and commitment to concept. Similar to Red Aggro decks, you’re actually frequently operating with worse cards than your opponents, and trying to dictate the terms of engagement to your opponent.
