Homeward Path 95: A Ghost Council of a Chance

We’re back this week to take a look at the Orzhov Syndicate, a bizarre hybrid of churches and banks. Longevity, a level of ruthlessness, and a willingness to use every resource at their disposal make up the psyche of an Orzhov mage, but the competitive viability is based on something else entirely! Let’s see things in Black and White this week!

Homeward Path 90: Let’s Rakdos Wins Up!

Beginning a series looking into the lore, mechanical identities, and overall gameplay approach of each color combination, by popular demand, we begin with the Cult of Rakdos. Homeward Path 89: Responding in the Negative

One of the most-maligned, most exaggerated archetypes of all times is Draw-Go. Believed to be nothing more than a pile of counterspells and a couple of win conditions, and difficult to play, the truth is much simpler. It’s an archetype that rewards format knowledge, patience, and commitment to concept. Similar to Red Aggro decks, you’re actually frequently operating with worse cards than your opponents, and trying to dictate the terms of engagement to your opponent. We’ll be looking at it as I share my list for Standard this week!

Homeward Path 87: Let the Hate Flow Through You

Sometimes, there’s an opponent or matchup you just can’t beat straight up. No matter how much you try, you just can’t win a fair fight against it. Maybe they’re too fast for you, or attack from an angle you just aren’t prepared for. The good news is, if you choose the right tools, your hate for that adversary can be depicted in a gameplan that seeks to cut off their ability to play Magic!

Homeward Path 86: A Rocky Relationship

This week, we’re looking at one of Magic’s most beloved and decorated archetypes: The Rock! With its unique blend of disruption, powerful threats, and suffocating value, this archetype checks a lot of the boxes for a strong Midrange choice!
